A local ACCESS dissemination event announced in Cardiff hosted by the Football Association of Wales!

The day Wales would play its UEFA Nations League match against Montenegro on its home turf at Cardiff City stadium on 14 October will also see a local ACCESS dissemination event in the afternoon, preceding the match and bringing together experts, practitioners and interest groups in the world of football and sustainable development.

Titled “Football and a Sustainable Future”, this event will highlight the remarkable efforts and initiatives within the football community aimed at addressing climate change and promoting sustainable practices. It will provide a platform for showcasing how football, as the world’s most popular sport, can be a powerful tool in raising awareness about environmental issues and driving proactive change.

Two key features of the event that will contribute to the attractiveness and dynamics of the event are the leading voices which appear at the event, including football professionals, sustainability experts, and environmental advocates who are making significant strides in incorporating eco-friendly practices within the sport. Furthermore, the event will see engaging presentations and panel discussions. The participant will have the opportunity to learn about ground-breaking projects, sustainable stadium initiatives, and grassroots programs setting new standards for environmental responsibility in football.

The event will cover a diverse set of topics and highlight sustainable practices – best practices for reducing the carbon footprint of football clubs and events, as well as grassroots initiatives with their success stories of grassroots programs using football to promote environmental education and action. Other focus will be put on community engagement and how football can mobilise fans and local communities to support environmental causes. Finally, in order to augment and identify as many added values as possible of these efforts, partnerships and collaborations will be discussed for exploring synergies between football organisations, environmental groups, and corporate sponsors to drive sustainability.

The overall objective of the “Football and a Sustainable Future” event is to make the participants inspired, network with like-minded individuals, and be part of the movement to harness the power of football for a greener, more sustainable world. This event offers valuable insights and actionable strategies to contribute to a sustainable future for Cymru and the world.

This event is an official and registered event under the Erasmus+ Days, an international six-day celebration of the Erasmus+ programme. During these days, people throughout the world are invited to come together and either organise or participate at events that celebrate the projects and opportunities proposed by Erasmus+.
