FC Porto’s efforts in sustainable waste management start bearing fruits

As a part of FC Porto’s Action Plan, put forward for the purpose of the ACCESS project, waste management at their administrative premises received special attention and becomes recognised by the public authorities.

This particular effort and pilot action is a part of the “Coração Verde” Certification initiative in partnership with LIPOR, the Municipalities Association for Sustainable Waste Management of Greater Porto. In order to prove and demonstrate their commitment, FC Porto has been implementing significant improvements in waste management within the administrative areas of Estádio do Dragão. The certification itself aims to promote waste prevention, efficient management, and ecosystem preservation, aligning with sustainable practices.

Following an audit and screening of the premises of interest for the identification of hotspots and most impactful solutions, approximately 150 general waste bins were removed from the administrative areas and replaced with strategically placed recycling stations for paper and plastic. This took place on 7 November and got enriched with a placement and installation of organic waste containers in pantry areas. To ensure the initiative’s success, an awareness campaign was conducted with the cleaning team, emphasising the importance of collective effort.

Through this project, FC Porto reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, taking another step towards achieving the “Coração Verde” Certification.
