Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sports report positively evaluates the work done by FC Porto

FC Porto is in third place in the world sustainability ranking prepared by the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sports (GSBS), for the 2021/22 season!

FC Porto’s performance was evaluated for the first time and is immediately highly rated among some of the biggest clubs or organizations in world sport. In an evaluation of up to 100, FC Porto is awarded a result of 79%, in a global balance of the four main areas under analysis: environment, social, corporate and governance.

Only Formula E, leader of the ranking, and Borussia Dortmund (both rated at 81%) surpass the performance of FC Porto. The GSBS report highlights the “clear strategy and ambitious approach” in this area, in addition to the “sophisticated structure and organization”.

Teresa Santos, responsible for FC Porto’s sustainability area, commented:

“It is with great satisfaction that we receive this result, which reinforces FC Porto’s commitment to sustainability and excellence. This rating validates our strategic approach, emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainability into all aspects of the club and cementing our commitment to being not only a sporting leader, but also an example of responsibility and positive impact on the community.”

Christian Hartmann, CEO of GSBS, also gave his testimony, congratulating the work done at FC Porto:

While many organizations in the area of professional sports are still in an early phase of their sustainable journey, FC Porto has already achieved impressive results in this first evaluation.
In Europe, we tend to give more prominence to the top five leagues, but we are very happy to see the results and the fantastic work that is already being done in Portugal. It was impressive to see the great professionalism and seriousness towards the topic of sustainability within the club.
