The GAA to test high density bicycle parking as a part of its contribution to the Dublin Climate Action Week

The Dublin Climate Action Week is an annual one-week programme of online and in-person events, which aims to showcase and inspire climate action across the Dublin region.

This year’s edition will take place between 12 and 18 May. The four Dublin Local Authorities, the Dublin Climate Action Regional Office (CARO) and Codema – Dublin’s Energy Agency have come together once more in 2025 to organise a great programme of events to showcase the Dublin region’s climate action progress, demonstrate the leadership role of the four Dublin Local Authorities and inspire action.

Another flagship week will coincide with the Climate Action Week, and it is the National Bike Week, which takes place from 10 to 18 May.

Having these two flagship week in mind, there was no better timing for the GAA to conduct one of its ACCESS pilot actions. A High Density Bicycle Parking will be available to attendees at the GAA & LGFA Leinster Football Finals at Croke Park on Sunday May 11th as part of a pilot action to support sustainable travel as part of the ACCESS project.

The pilot was identified through enhanced collaboration between the GAA, Croke Park Stadium and local government, climate action and cycling stakeholders in Dublin city.

The pilot will establish high density bicycle parking at three location in the North Dublin city centre area in close proximity to Croke Park. It is being promoted in partnership with Dublin City Council, Dublin Cycling Campaign and LGFA (Ladies Gaelic Football Association) clubs in the Dublin Region.
